About

Barakat Ladipo is a creative director, visual storyteller and a wardrobe manipulator who hails from Brooklyn, New York. Her quick and ardent responsiveness to color, texture, layering and technique of mixing masculine and feminine garments are prominent factors to her creative skillset. Ladipo has seamlessly collided her love for fashion and art to be a segway for many stages in her creativity.

Fashion was first introduced to Ladipo as a way to mask many insecurities she faced growing up in her early adolescent and teenage years. Being the first born to an immigrant mother, Ladipo was confronted with plethora of trails and uncertainties that taught her how to find her strength, courage and resilience at an early age. As life continued to evolve for her, she transformed her pain into passion which became her well being. Championed by her Nigerian roots, Ladipo utilizes her culture, fashion and art to be a mouthpiece to showcase those untold stories from one’s journey to self discovery and style.

In 2020, Ladipo journeyed herself as a full time freelance creator which broaden her horizons to fashion films, music videos, short films, independent films, and television shows. She has lead the wardrobe for campaigns for Adidas and Coca-Cola. Costumed and set designed for numerous television shows and movies for Lifetime, AMC, BET, and Bounce TV. Barakat is a trailblazer who wears her culture, authenticity, and love to create art for those who are unrepresented and unheard.
